Description
This dataset contains multilocus genotype data from Eurasian beavers (Castor fiber) sampled in Flanders (Belgium) and the southern Netherlands. Individuals originate from reintroduced populations based on different source lineages (Bavarian, Elbe, and Eifel). Through life trapping and collecting traffic casualties, samples were obtained in the period 2008-2023. The data were used to assess genetic structure, admixture, and connectivity following reintroduction and natural range expansion. Genotyping was conducted using a set of polymorphic microsatellite markers suitable for population genetic analyses in C. fiber.
Data description
The comma separated Genotypes.csv file contains the microsatellite genotypes of Castor fiber for 15 polymorphic microsatellite markers without low quality genotypes, and with one recapture still included. In the first ten fields, the following information is provided:
sample_ID: sample identifier
collection: the type of sample collection, such as cadaver collection, telemetry capture and live trapping
municipality: municipality where the sample was collected
country: country where the sample was collected
sex: sex of the individual identified using part of the SRY gene
life stage: the estimated life stage of the individual
collection date: the day of sample collection in case of life trapping or when the cadaver was found (yyyy-mm-dd)
collection year: the year of sample collection
longitude: longitude of the sample location (WGS84)
latitude: latitude of the sample location (WGS84)
The following 30 fields represent genotypes for 15 microsatellite loci, with one allele's data per column for each locus.
