Research expertise
Aaike De Wever is IT project coordinator at INBO. He follows the development of a wide array of data-related projects at INBO. He coordinates the IT working group and keeps a close eye on the IT-developments at the level of the policy area 'Omgeving' (Environment). He is also co-program coordinator for the Open Science theme and active around Data Management Plans (DMP).
Aaike has a scientific background in aquatic microbial ecology. For his PhD he studied the microbial foodweb in Lake Tanganyika, gained experience in challenging fieldwork and continued to work on topics such as microbial ecology, remote sensing and data management. He gained further project- and datamanagement experience at the Royal Belgian Institute for Natural Sciences, where he was active as scientific data manager for freshwater biodiversity projects.
