An Vanden Broeck was born in Asse, Belgium. She received the degree in Master in Applied Biological Science from the University of Leuven (KUL) and the PhD degree from the University of Ghent (UG), Belgium. An is a scientist at the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO, www.inbo.be). Her research interests include conservation (epi)genetics, adaptation of plants to climate change, hybridization, conservation and use of forest genetic resources.
