Personal profile

Research expertise

Bioengineer with a specialisation in soil science and biogeochemistry of semi-natural ecosystems. Cécile has been working at the Institute for Nature and Forest Research (INBO) since 2010 on the relationship between abiotics (hydrology, soil chemistry) and biodiversity:

  • researching the ecological requirements of Natura 2000 habitat types and regionally important biotopes to contribute to efficient and realistic nature development and nature restoration projects;
  • estimating the impact of environmental pressures on the European protected habitat types and regionally important biotopes;
  • ecohydrological studies assessing the potential for conservation or development of target habitats depending on abiotic environmental variables (including the use of vegetation distribution models such as NICHE Flanders).
