Research expertise

Jasmijn Hillaert is a researcher in the group Wildlife Management and Invasive Species. She is involved in research and management of invasive species in the context of the EU IAS regulation. She manages the website vespawatch.be, which is used to monitor the spread of the Asian hornet in Flanders by citizen science. Within this project, she also investigates the population dynamics and ecological interactions of the Asian hornet. She also contributes to the project Riparias by optimizing the registration of management actions on aquatic, invasive species.

During her Phd at the UGent (Terrestrial Ecology Unit) Jasmijn gained a lot of experience in the spatial modelling of population and community dynamics.
