Research expertise

Luc De Keersmaeker is a forest ecologist, at work from 1995 to 1998 at Ghent University and since 1998 at the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO) of the Flemish Government. He studied various aspects of forest ecosystems, with an emphasis on forest vegetation: nutrient cycling, forest restoration on farmland, the impact of land use history and forest management, and spontaneous development of unmanaged forest reserves.
