Research expertise
Nathalie Cools behaalde haar doctoraat in de toegepaste biologische wetenschappen land-en bosbeheer aan de KULeuven. Ze startte haar loopbaan aan het INBO aan het Forest Soil Coördinating Centre van het Internatinaal Samwerkingsprogramma rond de bepaling en opvolging van de effecten van grensoverschrijdende luchtverontreining op de bossen (ICP Forests) in Europa. Daar stond ze in voor de kwaliteitsbewaking van de bodemstaalname en de laboratoriumanalyses. Geleidelijk aan breidde ze haar bodemexpertise uit naar de bodems in de heide en de open natuur in Vlaanderen. Sinds 2014 is Nathalie het aanspreekpunt voor het LTER-Belgium netwerk dat onderzoeksinstellingen en sites in België begaan met lange-termijn ecosysteem onderzoek verenigt.
Research expertise
Nathalie Cools obtained her PhD in applied biological sciences land and forest management at the KULeuven. She started her career at the INBO at the Forest Soil Coordinating Centre of International Co-operative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Forests (ICP Forests) in Europe. There she was responsible for the quality control of soil sampling and laboratory analyses. She gradually expanded her soil expertise to soils in heathland and open nature in Flanders. Since 2014, Nathalie has been the contact person for the LTER-Belgium network that unites research institutions and sites in Belgium committed to long-term ecosystem research.
