Research expertise

Veronique Adriaenssens has obtained more than 10 years of experience in water management, environmental policy studies and project management. From 2000 until 2008, she collaborated on the Water Framework Directive implementation in the UK and Belgium, developing decision-support tools for river basin management and supporting the work on ecological status indicators for the WFD. From 2009 until 2020, she worked as a consultant collaborating and leading in various EC DG ENV and DG CLIMA studies in relation to water management, environmental policy analysis, climate change and marine policy development (MSFD), as part of Arcadis Belgium. Since 2021, she joined the Research Institute Nature and Forest (Flanders) INBO, working as an expert international project development, promoting collaborative research projects on nature and biodiversity in an international environment, and as key expert in EU policy development. She works in multidisciplinary and international environments supporting strategic areas in biodiversity research.
