Abstract
The Code of Good Practice Management Monitoring provides that species can be monitored using a standardised catch or counting method in case:
- The species is included in the nature conservation plan,
- Management has an impact on the appearance of the species,
- The species is (relatively) easy to inventory,
- The species is rare,
- The species constitutes a critical population in the area concerned.
The Code also lists the specific species that may be monitored by a standardised catch or counting method.
Method-wise, reference is made to the measurement protocols drawn up for Natura 2000 species monitoring. The question is whether these measurement protocols for management follow-up can be simplified.
