Abstract
In order to better assess the barrier effects of offshore wind turbines on seabirds, knowledge is needed about the distance at which the various species are disturbed by wind turbines. This knowledge can then be used to configure the new wind farms (e.g. by using corridors) in such a way that the barrier effect is minimised. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the current state of affairs with regard to barrier effects. Specific attention is paid to the species that occur in the Belgian part of the North Sea.
