Basic material action plan for autochthonous and forestry planting stock

Project Details

Abstract

In order to achieve the policy goals of forest expansion by 2024 (4,000 ha of additional forest) and 2030 (10,000 ha of additional forest), there is a massive need for suitable native and climate-resilient forest plants. Due to large seed shortages, there is an urgent demand for additional harvesting sites that meet the qualitative conditions. The aim of this project is to increase the supply of seeds of forest reproductive material for the cultivation of suitable forest plants. This includes establishing new seed orchards and prospecting for new suitable forest reproductive material. We are also investigating the problem of lack of seed setting in hazel.
