Abstract
The Life project SPARC (Space for Adapting the River Scheldt to Climate change, 2017-2022), co-funded by Europe, aims to make the Scheldt estuary more climate-robust by creating 8 floodplains along the Scheldt and Durme as defined in the Sigma Plan, by sharing knowledge with other estuaries and by raising awareness among local residents. Life SPARC will also contribute to the development of the Scheldt Valley River Park. In this project, which is part of SPARC, a two-step plan is worked out with an initial vulnerability analysis and in a second phase the formulation of management guidelines and specific measures.
