Abstract
Cyanobacteria are becoming increasingly prominent in Flemish surface waters. They are a threat to natural values and a risk to public health. People can come into direct contact with cyanobacteria through recreation. Also the use of contaminated water in the agricultural and horticultural sector to irrigate food crops constitutes an indirect risk to public health. INBO carries out a risk assessment through a number of field tests.
