Abstract
The reported spring count numbers of partridge by the game management units (WBE) form the basis for the current hunting policy. Game management units which do not meet the threshold, in particular three couples per 100 ha of open space, will be banned from hunting partridge. Because the hunting sector itself is responsible for providing these figures, and there is no control over their accuracy, the current policy is under pressure.
In future, in order to continue to make use of reported numbers from the sector itself, it will be necessary to obtain these in a transparent and standardised manner. This makes sample validation possible.
This project will develop such standardised monitoring. We will also optimise the field protocol and the processing of the data.
