Project Details

Abstract

The Biodiversa project “Embrace” aims to gain a better understanding of how food systems and biodiversity conservation can be combined in multifunctional protected areas so that various actors can benefit.
The specific research questions addressed in the PhD thesis are:
1. What are the motivations, expectations and potential frictions for actors to collaborate in a coalition in multifunctional protected landscapes?
2. How can inclusivity and efficiency be balanced in horizontal governance structures in multifunctional landscapes?
3. How do bottom-up collaborations in protected landscapes succeed in finding innovative solutions to challenges in multifunctional land use? What are the lessons learned?
