eLTER Preparatory Phase Project (eLTER PPP)

Integrated European Long-Term Ecosystem, critical zone and socio-ecological system Research Infrastructure (eLTER) is a new distributed Research Infrastructure that aims at integrating traditional natural sciences and holistic ecosystem research approaches. The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) has identified eLTER in their Roadmap 2018 as a new important and strategic pan-European research infrastructure for the European scientific community. The eLTER Preparatory Phase Project will, among other matters, establish the vision and mission of the eLTER RI and strategic collaboration schemes and analyse the impact of the eLTER RI, plan and start to implement the effective governance and management structures for eLTER on European level, make the cost benefit analysis, full cost book of the RI, and the financial plans for the mid-term (first five years after PPP), and long-term perspective, coordinate a smooth transition from preparation into pre-operations by establishing a legal entity to support the eLTER RI together with relevant stakeholders, conclude the technical requirements of the eLTER RI and identify the hosts for Central Services and process to include the critical National Sites and Platforms.
