Abstract
The overall objective of this project is to provide technical and scientific support to the Commission in relation to the implementation of the IAS Regulation. The specific objectives are as follows:
1) to assist the Commission in the review of - and the reporting on - the application of the Regulation including the Union list, the action plans on pathways, the surveillance system, customs controls, eradication and management obligations, including the examination of the effectiveness of the implementation provisions on invasive alien species of regional concern, the need for and the feasibility of including species native to the Union in the Union list and whether further harmonisation is needed to increase the effectiveness of action plans and measures undertaken by the Member States, as required through Article 24(3);
2) to assist the Commission in collecting, analysing and evaluating information and data and to support the development and updating of technical guidance documents, interpretation notes and other information and communication material to contribute to the correct application of the Regulation;
3) to provide technical input for the analysis and the evaluation of the Member States' authorisation applications (Article 9), emergency measures notifications (Article 10) and notifications of derogation from the rapid eradication obligation (Article 18), as well as technical assistance for the analysis and assessments related to legal complaints or petitions received by the European Commission.
