Project Details
Abstract
In accordance with the Water Framework Directive, the Integrated Water Policy Coordination Committee (CIW) prepares the river basin management plans (SGBP). INBO, commissioned by the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM) and in collaboration with UA (ECOBE), UGent (LPAE) and the Centre for Estuary and Marine Ecology (NIOOO-CEME), defined the measurement standards for the biological quality elements and for the hydromorphology of the Flemish transitional waters and freshwater tidal waters. INBO is also responsible for the MONEOS monitoring and reporting of habitats and species for the Flemish/Dutch Scheldt Commission (VNSC). In this project, the measurement standards for transitional waters will be applied to the MONEOS results in order to carry out the EKC calculation and assessment of the quality class in accordance with the European Water Framework Directive for the tidal water bodies of the Scheldt. Monitoring is also carried out for the Port Gulls of the IJzer, as this is not part of MONEOS.
