EU reporting: updating of the Natura 2000 database (Standard Data Forms, SDF)

Project Details

Abstract

The EU Natura2000 database contains the relevant policy information for each Special Protection Area (SPA, Birds Directive) and each Special Area of Conservation (SAC, Habitats Directive). In addition to the geospatial representation of the sites, it contains a general description (incl. management), ecological information on the species and habitat types present on the site and information about the pressures acting on the site. The importance of the site for other species may also be indicated.
With each change to the demarcation of a site, or when new or improved information with policy relevance becomes available, the Natura2000 database must be updated and submitted to the European Commission. INBO prepares the necessary adjustments to the standard data forms of the Flemish sites (in consultation with ANB) and delivers this to the Service Public de Wallonie (DEMNA - Département de l'Étude du milieu naturel et agricole) who coordinates and communicates with the European Commission on behalf of Belgium.
The Natura2000 database is accessible via the European website (https://natura2000.eea.europa.eu/) and through Geopunt (https://www.vlaanderen.be/datavindplaats/catalogus/habitatrichtlijndeelgebieden and https://www.vlaanderen.be/datavindplaats/catalogus/vogelrichtlijngebieden).
