Evaluation and development of recovery management in Programmatic Nitrogen Approach (PAS)

Project Details

Abstract

The project will run along four lines:
1. Literature study and questioning
2. Integrated recovery management opportunities in specific special protection areas (SPA)
3. Follow-up and evaluation of the recovery measures implemented in practice
4. Experimental research

The objectives of this project are:
assess the effectiveness and deployability or application of existing management and remediation measures to improve the quality of N2000 habitat types negatively affected by nitrogen, regionally important biotopes (RBB) and their characteristic species;
make proposals to increase the effectiveness of these measures and adapt them to situations specific to the Flemish Region;
increase the scientific validity of the application of existing management and recovery measures;
design new and adapted management and remediation measures to improve the quality of nature types negatively affected by nitrogen;
to follow up the recovery measures applied under the Programmatic Nitrogen Approach (PAS) and to examine their effects;
assist and advise the private nature management sector.
