Project Details
Abstract
Under the framework agreement, De Vlaamse Waterweg nv (before 2018: W&Z) has asked for
(1) the environmental performance of existing bank measures along navigable waterways (Upper Scheldt, Sea Canal) to be monitored and evaluated, and
(2) design or implementation adjustments to be proposed that will improve the ecological results.
This involves a variety of bank measures including NTMB measures, forebanks, wet berms and the reconnection of meanders. In addition, this project also includes the acquisition of knowledge about the impact of factors such as wave action, bank erosion and flow patterns on vegetation development in the riparian zone.
