Abstract
The Province of Limburg (Netherlands) and the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) have been asking for an evaluation of hamster protection carried out in the Netherlands over the last 20 years.
Specifically, it asks about:
- the ecology
- the development of numbers (internationally, in the Netherlands and neighbouring countries)
- the impact of various management measures
- the interaction with agriculture
- the causes of the failure to achieve sustainable conservation
- formulating advice for future protection
