Financial flows to agriculture and impact on biodiversity

Project Details

Abstract

This project will analyse the financial flows towards agriculture, in the first place (but not only) the resources from the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) and the for agriculture relevant fiscal measures. It will investigate in which direction these resources guide the agricultural sector and compare this with the direction required by the environmental and biodiversity legislation. This comparison will provide us insight in policy incoherence and the scale of this incoherence. The study was ordered by the environmental NGO Bond Beter Leefmilieu. The main contractor is the chair for agricultural economics (Ghent University). INBO is a subcontractor and will investigate the coherence with biodiversity targets. The team Nature and Society and the team Nature Reporting and Advisory Services will be involved.
