Project Details
Abstract
INBO surveys the health of the Flemish forests every year. The Institute does this on the basis of a fixed number of test grids from the forest vitality monitoring network. This monitoring is part of an international programme of forest vitality monitoring (ICP Forests / Level 1). The monitoring network was established in Flanders in 1987. By means of the annual crown assessments, changes in forest vitality in Flanders are monitored. The percentage of damaged (forest) trees is one of the nature indicators relating to forest quality.
