HABKWAP - Habitat preference corn crake and spotted crake

Project Details

Abstract

In collaboration with ANB, INBO are conducting a pilot study on the habitat use of spotted crake and corncrake. This should help determine the surface requirements of the species: necessary area of habitat, breeding and foraging areas.
This allows us to determine in which areas the protection of spotted crake and corncrake is promising, or where the area of suitable habitat needs to be expanded.
We look at the role of vegetation composition and vegetation structure and the influence of management, water levels and flooding.
In order to be able to optimise the management of habitats for corncrake and spotted crake and to adjust the measures, research is needed into the effects of various measures on, among other things, breeding success and the survival of young.
