Abstract
ICOS is a European research infrastructure for the unravelling of the greenhouse gas balance.
The carbon cycle is disrupted by anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. In order to make predictions about our future climate, all parts of the cycle need to be investigated. This requires long-term measurements carried out at as many locations in Europe as possible. At these locations, the same equipment and measurement protocols are used, making measurements comparable.
