Abstract
The lack of cross-border statistical data limits knowledge of the Interreg France-Wallonia-Flanders cooperation area. We want to contribute to the systematic structuring of observations and analyses (which give rise to a cross-border reflex), integrate them into a cross-border network and strengthen mutual communication. During discussions between the partners, the need for a cross-border observatory became apparent.
Various modules are planned for the observatory (water, social, economic, etc.), including a “biodiversity” module. The data collected, harmonised and made comparable by the observatory will be made available via an online platform.
Ultimately, the aim is to make this cross-border observatory permanent by institutionalising exchanges between French-Belgian actors, thereby improving policy monitoring. The data collected will cover various areas such as agriculture, mobility, employment, health and water management.
Harmonising the data collection methods used by the institutions involved is also an important objective of the project.
