Abstract
We are working on the further development and maintenance of the model toolkit ECODYN and derived Decision Support Tools.
We do this through knowledge building on biodiversity (ecotopes and species) and the functioning (dynamics, connectivity, etc.) of natural areas along the Common Meuse (including canals). This allows us to formulate guidelines for future management and design.
We contribute to the development of a widely supported and integrated international vision for a Meuse-river ecosystem supported by major natural processes.
Research questions:
- What do design and management deliver for nature and the functioning of areas as floodplains (independently and as a whole)?
- How can we optimise biodiversity (taking into account nature goals) while guaranteeing flow capacity?
- What future developments can be expected and how can management and design guide this?
Adivise:
- Recommendations on measures whereby river management works can optimise nature restoration and biodiversity by combining work with work and carrying out targeted nature development ism nature and river managers.
