Management Evaluation Dunes 2 (BEK2)

Project Details

Abstract

Through vegetation mapping and mapping of species of interest and exotic species, we will make an inventory of new areas in this assignment. For some zones this will be a repeated inventory so that a thorough evaluation of the observed changes can take place. We look at which evolutions are spontaneous and which have come about under the influence of management.

There is an important emphasis in this project on the evaluation of grazing management. For this purpose, Permanent quadrants for vegetation research (PQs) are included, which were established in 1997 in the Westhoek and the Houtsaeger dunes. A second major focus is the follow-up of exotic species management on the coast and especially the large-scale removal of Rosa rugosa to be carried out in 2020 and 2021.
