Project Details
Abstract
The project involves a standardised ecological inventory and (management) evaluation of all managed areas on the Flemish Coast (dunes and salt marshes).
Among other things, the study seeks to answer the following questions:
Is dune management achieving the expected results?
How does the dune manager ensure that the engine of the dune system remains active (dynamics of water, wind and vegetation)?
How should management be adjusted due to the changes caused by climate change?
What concrete management recommendations are there for the various areas?
Through detailed inventories of flora and vegetation, the results and effectiveness of coastal dune management are visualised and translated into management and policy recommendations.
