Abstract
MONIPOLLI is part of MBAG, Monitoring biodiversity in agricultural areas. The main goal of MONIPOLLI is to work out and implement a realistic monitoring scheme for pollinators in Flanders (northern Belgium). In the first place, this encompasses the development of a methodology for the sampling and identification of pollinator species. The pilot project SPRING (Strengthening pollinator recovery through indicators and monitoring) provides a significant contribution to that purpose. At the same time, the design of a network of pollinator sampling sites in Flanders is started. The effective implementation of this monitoring network is scheduled from 2025 onwards.
In a later phase this monitoring might be extended towards other invertebrates that play a crucial role in the functioning of agricultural ecosystems.
