Monitoring and evaluation of the Scheldt Left Bank Area (LO)

Project Details

Abstract

The monitoring of the Scheldt Left Bank Area evaluates the changing natural values in the Natura 2000 site in the Waaslandhaven. It examines whether the Natura 2000 habitats and species in the Scheldt Left Bank Area are able to achieve and maintain a good conservation status. It also monitors whether the compensation measures for Deurganckdok and other port infrastructure works are having the desired effect. It evaluates whether the completed nature development projects have achieved their objective and supports new nature development projects. It supports the management committee so that it can adjust its management approach on the basis of evidence, and carries out additional supporting research where necessary. The monitoring focuses on birds, the natterjack toad, the fen orchid, bats and habitat quality.
