Monitoring the presence of carnivores using camera traps in connection with Natura2000 reporting

Project Details

Abstract

As part of the Natura 2000 reporting system, the presence of specific carnivore species in different forest complexes and nature reserves in Flanders is being investigated using camera traps. Species involved are pine marten (annex V) and otter, wildcat and wolf (perhaps also lynx) (annex II & IV) and the badger as a Flemish priority species. This monitoring is taking place in close collaboration with the local managers (including the Agency for Nature and Forest).
