Odonates as barometers for global change: understanding the evolution of latitudinal ranges to anticipate response mechanisms to climate warming (EvoLatitude)

Project Details

Abstract

With this project, INBO is investigating changes in the distribution and genetic characteristics (phenotypic plasticity and the genes responsible for this) of a series of closely related dragonfly species in Europe. These findings are important not only for understanding the phenotypic basis of species adaptations, but also for anticipating their ability to adapt to climate change. In this way, we contribute to the development of specific protection measures to preserve endangered species.
