Refinement of the Functional Ecological Network of nature links in East Flanders

Project Details

Abstract

Provincial nature policy focuses on the delineation and development of nature corridors and ecological infrastructure. In these areas, the province implements an active acquisition policy, initiates area-specific projects, and/or provides subsidies to forest groups, regional landscapes, and recognized nature organizations to establish nature connections between large units of nature within the Flemish Ecological Network. The province, using the INBO methodology for nature connectivity, has mapped search zones through eco-profiles for the (provincial) target species also analyzed by INBO. With this project, INBO aims to refine these search zones through further modeling and to develop some pilot nature connections in concrete terms.
