Rural research Voeren (EVINBO)

The goal of this project is to strengthen regional identity by supporting participatory vision development processes for a region with a valuable local identity. The specific objectives of the study are the identification and analysis of:
• Sectors that have an effect on the landscape and the expected impact of climate change
• Possible future scenarios that build on synergies between agriculture, environment, recreation/tourism, heritage and nature development
• Partnerships and/or financial instruments
• Appropriate methods for opening up research results for discussion in participatory deliberative processes.
To ensure sufficient thoroughness, this approach will be tested in a case study area with a strong regional identity, but where landscape changes are threatening that regional identity. Voeren in the province of Limburg is a typical example of such an area.
