Project Details
Abstract
SAFRED, a Belspo-funded BRAIN project in which KULeuven, UGent, ULg, INBO, UNAMUR, BBPf, BOKU and RBINS cooperate on the publication of Belgian freshwater biodiversity data. The mobilized data will be available online via the Belgian Biodiversity Platform and the Freshwater Information Platform.
SAFRED wants to focus on systematically rediscovering and publishing data on freshwater research. The project partners have been active in various research projects on freshwater environments (LOOMS, BIOMAN, Pondscape, Manscape, Boyekole Ebale Congo 2010 expedition) for several years. The results of these projects found their way into scientific articles, but the underlying data remained unpublished and therefore unused. Through this collaboration and expertise exchange, the various partners want to compile the data sets, record document data on data collection and processing (metadata), standardize the data and publish them online, often accompanied by a data paper.
