Abstract
Forest dieback is a current problem that occurs in large parts of Flanders, especially on sandy soils. This project wants to make the problem visible to policy-makers and to the owners and managers concerned.
INBO will:
* make visible the nature and extent of the occurring forest dieback
* build up experience in the use of satellite imagery to estimate the nature (living / dead and if possible damaged species) and the extent (% share) of the forest damage and forest vitality in relation to soil and hydrology
* provide possible best practices to maximise climate adaptive conversion
* map the affected tree species and how often forest dieback occurs (prevalence)
