The Marten Network

Project Details

Abstract

The focus of the Marten Network is on Mustelidae, but by extension it also considers other carnivores (native and non-native) in Flanders. This project involves bringing together carnivore observation data (a.o. field checks after remarkable observations, reports of road casualties), the collection of road kill animals and the performance of ecological autopsies on the collected animals. Among other things, the output of this project forms the basis for EU reporting for otter, wildcat, pine marten and polecat, and for giving feedback to many questions (advices,...) and social focal points in relation to these species.
