Abstract
The Social Study (TSS) is a data collection infrastructure set up by all Belgian universities. The TSS panel consists of a representative group of 5,000 randomly selected Belgians aged 16 and above. It is a valuable source for collecting data and gaining insights into our society. Every year, TSS produces a core questionnaire to collect basic information on the economic situation, employment, social attitudes, health and personality characteristics of the panel members. In addition, The Social Study enables researchers to conduct their own research using the panel.
Through a collaboration with Statistics Flanders, we as INBO were given the opportunity to provide questions for the panel members. These questions can be repeated on an annual basis to map trends and evolutions within the Belgian and Flemish population. This can be a free and efficient tool to map support around certain nature-related themes or to estimate themes such as nature connection, multiple valuation of nature and nature significance among the population.
