Abstract
Bats can provide valuable ecosystem services in agriculture by acting as natural predators of insect pests-species that damage crops or transmit diseases to livestock. However, their presence and effectiveness as pest controllers are threatened by poor landscape connectivity in agricultural areas and the use of pollutants such as heavy metals and pesticides. Through this cross-border INTERREG project between France, Wallonia, and Flanders, we aim to study the impact of these pollutants and use spatial modelling to develop connectivity maps. The results will help us offer practical solutions to farmers for improving bat habitats, thereby enhancing the natural pest control services bats provide.
