Abstract
We use a two-pronged modelling approach in order to analyse the influence of recreation on the activity patterns of animals.
Social media and sports data are consulted via a publicly accessible Application Programming Interface (API). We will investigate which social media platforms and sports data are most suitable for our analysis (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Strava, Knooppunten, etc.). Only a small proportion of all social media posts are geotagged, but this small proportion is compensated for by the enormous amount of data available on social media. This data can be used to perform spatio-temporal analyses: which locations are visited most often and when.
