Using eDNA to investigate the presence of European otter (Lutra lutra) in the Semois valley (EVINBO)

Project Details

Abstract

Through eDNA, INBO will investigate the presence of otter in the Semois basin. Our eDNA expertise will be used in a major otter recovery programme underway there and supported by WWF. Within INBO, we have been developing and optimising an \otter eDNA protocol\ for some time, which is now operational and can be used for this purpose. There will also be parallel screening for otter via traditional methods in the relevant area.
