Abstract

This report provides a comprehensive protocol for the captive breeding of the chequered skipper, developed to support the species’ reintroduction in England after its extinction in 1976. This guide outlines all stages of the breeding process—from adult collection, transport and environmental control to caterpillar care, hibernation and release methods. The report demonstrates that the Chequered Skipper is a relatively straightforward species to rear under appropriate conditions.
