Abstract

Between 2023 and 2026, INBO carried out assessments of 308 forest reproductive materials located across Flanders.
● For the vast majority (183), the assessments were positive and the reproductive materials could be retained in the register without the need for urgent additional checks
● Sixty-one sites received a partially positive assessment; these met the statutory quality requirements but were often difficult to access, which reduced the efficiency of seed harvesting. These sites will also remain in the register but will be subject to a management recommendation.
● Seventeen sites still meet the statutory requirements but show signs of decline, meaning that quality cannot be guaranteed in the long term. The INBO will monitor these sites at shorter intervals and remove them from the register if necessary.
● The quality of thirty-eight sites can no longer be guaranteed. Reasons for this include mass mortality, intermingling with non-native plants or insufficient genetic diversity. These sites will be removed from the register by INBO.
