    Abstract

This scientific report was made in order to collect and summarise the information required to take a management decision concerning escaped wild boar in Brugge (Flanders).

The report summarizes the current information found in literature covering the general knowledge on wild boar, their possible impact, both ecological and economical, and describes the management tools currently used to manage wild boar populations worldwide.

Furthermore an overview of the current distribution and the consequences of its legal status as game species in Flanders are given.

Finally the particular situation of the wild boars in Zedelgem is discussed and the pro’s and con’s of possible management options are compared.
