Abstract

This report deals with the occurrence of 79 invasive species in Flanders: the 46 species on the Union list, and a selection of 33 other IUS. Their occurrence was analysed according to various types of nature terrains. The occupancy in nature terrains (the percentage area of a site occupied by a species) is very unevenly distributed.
Local site managers have substantial freedom to set their own priorities, based on criteria such as area-specific nature goals, neighbourhood or other uses.
In line with the earlier PrIUS framework, this report elucidates which are the (i) sporadic, (ii) limited-established, and (iii) widespread species that are found in strong abundance in natural areas.
