Abstract

This report is a mapping from bocage landscapes (with wooded edges), coulisse landscapes (with tree rows) and open landscapes using historical maps. It is a technical report focusing on methodologies used, methodological choices and the resulting map material (GIS data), with some summary results.
We got a clear picture of the historical evolution of open and closed landscapes between 1778 and 1969. For example, we can clearly identify areas with permanently open or closed landscapes, or locate vanished bocage landscapes.
