    Abstract

The Flanders Environmental Library Network (Felnet) (°1996) is a cooperative association comprising several Flemish special libraries of a public or private character. Felnet endeavours to coordinate frequently incongruously dispersed environment-related information in Flanders and to make this information digitally available to interested parties through its own website. For this purpose, Felnet relied on the technical know-how supplied by Vito (Vlaamse Instelling voor Technologisch Onderzoek) and in particular by the West Flanders’ software company Hemmis (Hydro Ecolo Meteo Management Information Systems). The website contains a principal catalog of the several library collections within the cooperative association. It also offers various means of retrieval. The necessary information relating to the distinct libraries can equally be obtained. The Felnet catalog can also be checked out via two cd-roms, one of which is based on SilverPlatter technology.
