Abstract

This report provides a detailed description of the measurements carried out and the field protocols applied in the research programme for monitoring unmanaged forests in Flanders. Since the first edition in 2021, important changes have been made to the protocol regarding the measurement of lying dead wood.
The report describes in detail the successive steps of preparation, implementation and data processing for field measurements in strict forest reserves.
In the final chapter of the report, we describe each specific site included in the network of intensively monitored sites, with basic information on its location in Belgium, climatic context, soil type, elevation and specific monitoring design.
